Dear GCS Parents and Friends,  

It is an exciting time to be a part of the ministry of Genesee Christian School!  When I first came to Genesee Christian as the new administrator in July of 2007, I remember telling some folks that my first order of business would be to upgrade the front drive and parking lot at the high school.  As I listed the many needs more directly related to quality instruction, I realized that we could put up with the bumpy drive for a bit longer.  Well, we have made many of those higher priority improvements (i.e. updated the computer labs, added data projectors in classrooms, revised grade level curriculum, purchased RenWeb communication software, etc.), and now the time has arrived to start a process of “PAVING THE WAY” for a new paved and curbed driveway to improve traffic flow and safety. 

The surveys that we received from our parents this past spring overwhelmingly cited our driveway improvement project as a current high priority to them.  The GCS leadership has partnered with CHMP, Inc., of Grand Blanc to draw up Phase I of a proposed paved driveway and parking lot plan.  This phase will include the expansion of the driveway entrances and exits, funneling of the traffic flow for improved safety of entering and exiting Belsay Road, and the addition of a student pick up/drop off area for busses and parents.  We will also include paved sidewalks, handicap parking, and proper signage and lighting to meet regulations and for ease of pedestrian traffic.  The total cost of Phase I will be approximately $80,000 - $100,000.   

We are asking for your help to raise the needed money by April 2012 for the driveway project which we would like to complete in the summer of 2012.  There are several ways that you can help.  First, you could make a tax-deductible donation to the school designated for the driveway project.  All donations made by December 31, 2011, can be itemized on your 2011 Income Tax Return.  Second, you could participate in the GCS School Auction on March 17, 2012, to help make it a huge success this year.  We will have a special “raise your paddle” live auction session to raise funds specifically for the driveway project. And, third, you could purchase and encourage others to purchase an engraved brick or bricks to be placed in a prominent area of the drop off/pick up area of the drive to show your support of GCS Schools.  The enclosed flyer has details for the “Paving the Way” brick fundraiser. 

Please pray about your involvement in this great improvement project.  We are anticipating the Lord’s continued provision for our school and this project.  Don’t miss out on your chance to “stamp your name” on this much needed improvement.  We are “PAVING THE WAY” for the benefit of the current and future families of Genesee Christian School.
